  • Timing belt replacement ....(again)

Hi - I'm new here and just got an older 3.0 manual Surf.

Seller included a new timing belt and advised early replacement.... Some good threads here on how to do that and it looks fairly straightforward, BUT I'm surprised that nobody mentions changing pulleys along with the timing belt. My previous involvement on this was with an old Discovery and timing belt changes on that also required that pulleys and tensioners etc were changed at same time. Any views on that for the Surf?.....keith
    Ahhh....skinned knuckles and heavy hammers...

I tend to judge each one i see, if the bearing is quiet and tight, I'll have no issues reusing it. If the adjuster isn't leaking oil and has plenty of resistance, its cool.

If this is good enough for the factory workshop manual, its good enough for me.

It helps if you've seen knackered ones, and have seen what works and what dosn't

I'm not into charging people for stuff they don't need. But if you're unsure its the sort of job you're better of not risking anthing.
