Tape deck head unit, Surf, 1997.

I have the 1997 Surf. Wondering how to remove the head unit without ripping away at my centre console. Is it easy done before i go and destroy the thing and are there any complications that i'll come across? Also, any ideas how easy the ISO connectors are to get hold of for an average new CD head unit (Kenwood) or will it need hard wiring?
