Tell the truth i can't see the point of aircon over here as its never warm enough and if it is then you just got to open the windows

If the cap blows off again and i lose it.....will it still be ok to drive. It wont affect anything else will it?

Once you've vented all your nasty Ozone layer depleting freon, the cap wont blow off anymore.

(It's not air thats venting you see...)

You could always try a skoosh of refrigerant through the HP valve to see if it reseats, before doing anything drastic, but youd probably have to go to an garage as I believe the DIY Halfords kit only fits in the LP side. ( different size valves) Youd be better going to a garage anyway as youve probably lost the compressor oil too.

Cheers for that mate. I dont think i'll be in much of a hurry to fix it though. Unless you reckon we will have a summer this year!?

P.S. how will i know if i've lost any oil? There was no sign of any leaks??

Under that thing is a valve, pretty much like your tyre valve. If its blowing stuff out of it, it has malfunctioned and your a/c gas and probably oil, has all gone.

Yes i had my air con done in the summer although it has gone again so I'm having a new air con flask thingy fitted...ahem..any way yes when the chap took the H cap off it was like a tyre valve nothing comes out until you push something in there the man screwed this like pipe with like a large bicycle pump type valve copper end so if it has been spitting something out there then there is a problem or some blockage there.
