  • gear box stuck in low gear

Hi i have a problem with my surf(93 3ltl auto d).I took it into the local garage to look at the speedo which was,nt working.this was diagnosed as a faulty speedo sender which was fine, however when i went to pick it up they had killed the battery so we jumped it , but when i drove out the gear box would not change up.the garage is stumped any ideas ?.it was fine before it went in there.

I'd check the plug around the speedo sensor they changed, there are 2 or 3 speed sensors in the T/case, and make sure they fitted the right one.

Try the old one back in, see if the gearbox works again.

Shifting problems could also be the ECU.

there is a black plug, with 3 wires, this disconnects the electrics, try it again changing gear manually, but they have got to have stuffed something up with the sensor or ECU tbh.

Is the transfer case lever pulled back towards the driver's seat?
