  • Changing oils

    Hi All,

I'm servicing my surf for the first time - one part at a time, I've bought all the parts and am doing them bit by bit. Most bit's seem straight foward, done the ATF (easy way)

However, how do you change the oil in the front diff? I can see the drain plug but havent been able to find the filler plug! The rear diff is easy!

Is the front diff part of the ADD system?
Does it use the same oil as the rear? (80/90)
How do you change the Transfer box oil?

Why is it so hard to do anything on a surf? there is no room!!!

    It's behind the bash plate.

Take the drain plug out, behind a plate, the oil will fall out. Refill through the filler hole.

Here's a tip. Always remove filler plugs first. If you don't and drain oil, then find you can't undo the filler you will be in deep trouble.

That's one of the first things I was told when I was an apprentice. Essentially, always make sure you can undo what you're about to do.
