  • leaking half shaft

    Hi there.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated regarding my sons gen3 surfs' rear axle. He's just told me that the o/s half shaft seal has just let go for the third time! Each time its been replaced with a full repair kit, which is, I think seal, dust cover, etc, but only with limited success. Toyota suggested bringing it in for a look(at £60/hr!), but I suggested asking the experts first! One thing spring to mind, is there a breather that could be blocked? Hope you can help.

Assuming the rear wheel bearing isn't knackered, then the coller that the seal runs on has been fitted incorrectly. Its been hammered all the way on till it and the ABS ring touches the coller behind it. This is incorrect and needs pulling back to the right place on the shaft.
