  • reverse Judder

    Hi All,

My Surf was Juddering yesterday when reversing - I checked the ATF level (after a good run, whilst idling and going through all the gears) and it was at the lower hot mark (if that makes sense) so probably just needs topping up?I'm planning to change the ATF anyway was just wondering if anyone else had had this problem?

Sometimes this can be a symtom of one of the uj's starting to wear.

Actually it is more of a grinding! It could be a UJ but wouldn't that grind going forwards as well?

Could be an engine mount or the gearbox mount. I think the engine or box is prone to lifting when in reverse so this can cause the juddering as it lifts and drops.

its usually a UJ, try that first before panicing about anything else.
