    Define wet.

I've assumed you mean REALY wet. The sort of rainstorm that leaves an inch of standing water on the road, and you need your wipers on maximum.

Not that it rained yesterday and it's still a bit wet.

In heavy rain and standing water I'm in 4x4, better safe than sorry

      Well I sit corrected
I never knew it was ok to shift between High and low whilst on the move!
Perhaps this only applies to manual models (as it mentions clutching, can't see why auto t/x boxes should differ to manual ones though)

Pretty damn sure that mine wiil not allow such shifts between low and high unless I engage neutral on the main g/box, which in any sticky situation means I'll be stopped anyway, but some experimentation may be called for...

Hi all, I loaded up 600 solid bricks on my trailer in the back yard and I chose to engage 4x4 prior to driving off the grass as my wife would have had my guts for tea if I put holes in the grass. This is a very rare occasion for me where I actually thought something through before proceeding. Naturally on wet muddy roads I like to slide a little to make it more interesting, and only usually choose 4x4 if I have to, cheers Turtle

You are correct Morr.... the above must only apply to manual Gboxes.

To shift from H4 to L4 you must first stop, select either neutral (N) or park (P) then push 4WD lever into L4

sometimes use 4x4 for fast driving, keeps it pointing the way i want esp on roundabouts...

most noticable when you use it on mud and it's hard to keep in a straight line... turn on 4wd and it pulls straight no worries... unless i want "donut mode", then i go to 2wd... 4wd seems to be better for controlled sideways drift.

for burnouts i use 2wd so i can hold the front brakes and smoke the tyres
