  • Intercooler without body lift?

    Hello,

looking through this forum and http://toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/performance.htm, it looks like an intercooler mod is pretty straight forward as long as you've got about a 2" body lift. Has anybody here fitted an intercooler without any body-lift? Is there any particular intercooler that's the best to go for? Most of the mods I've read about seem to go for Pajero units, but there are also BMW, Skyline, L200 and other units used out there...

Just thinking of projects for the Summer (if it doesn't pour with rain again this year...)

    Cheers.

You need the lift to make the room for it to fit, if you are doing a top mount. Unfortunately there isn't enougth room above the engine.
    Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

      Thanks for that.

Nobody's managed to wedge one in somewhere without, then?

      Cheers.

You can do a front mount intercooler without a lift, but there have been reports of increased turbo lag, and people removing the front mount to do a top mount.

I did look at trying a top mount without a lift, but I simply can not shut the bonnet with an intercooler there.

              That's really helpful, thanks Bushwhacker.

I'd like to have seen a picture of the final air-filter solution and the scoop in place, but that's all pretty helpful stuff, none the less.

              Cheers.
