Help with fuel flap not closing

With alll the cold weather recently, I opened my fuel flap to out fuel in this morning, now it won't stay shut... I have used WD40 on the flap part but am wondering if something is missing to hold it the flap in place.... any help would be appreciated ...... I have checked to make sure the cable under the dash has clicked back in place and all seems fine... I can't find any diagrams of what should be in the fuel flap to see if anything has gone........

Theres a little plastic tab that breaks off the flap,see if its still on there.If not that,sounds like its just not releasing the 'pushy out part' that locks it.Get someone to pull the release under the dash while you have a look in the lock with a torch,you might see if theres movement.
(Its probably frozen up with this weather brrrrrr!)
