BTW my mate took his truck to several garages who declined to do the work because they didn't have the correct puller to remove pitman arm.
I did the whole job in half an hour.
I used a mini grinder disc very carefully to remove old arm and fitted new one.

Hehe! no probs ordered 1 from roughtrax to day so hopfully should be up and running by thursday at the latest thanx so much for your help guys would have been realy stuck without it!

hi mate ,i would have fitted a second hand steering box complete with pitman arm, if they have been trying to weld near the box could have burnt the seal or damaged the bearing?

yeh i checked that and they must have had the arm off to weld as there are no weld marks or dicolouration on the splines, (it has cracked right along the groove inside the splines,if know what i mean )the only thing i might be worried about is that the splines are damaged with the old arm slipping but il have to cross that bridge when i come to it (hopfully never!)
just got to fit the new 1 in sub zero temps now brrrrrrr!!!!
