  • Master Cylinder Replacement

I'll be replacing the MC in my 2nd gen Surf in the next couple of days and was wondering if anyone had any tips. From what I've read, it can be a bit of a pain to bleed - what's the best strategy?

Nothing special. It's no different from any other master cylinder you've done before.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

      You were spot on!

Im not surprised the seals had gone in the old MC - there was black sludge in the bottom of the reservoir

Bench bled the new MC, then made a Heath Robinson pressure cap out of the old reservoir cap. Hooked up some low pressure air and bled everything.

I now have a rock solid pedal and can stop on a dime

Sorry about that, it's becoming a habit

The next thing you know, some of the idiots (you know who you are) on here will realise I do actually help folk.

Glad it all went smoothly Galooph.
