Just out of interest, how much oil does your Surf use between oil changes?
I'm assuming that you change it every 5000km's like you should.

None!Well, maybe so little that it does not show on dip stick. Never had to top up oil since owning it.Had it about 20 Mths now.Engine has never missed a beat.However other things like fuel pump/alternator/cv boots/brakes/bearings etc have cost a fair bit.

i check mine every week only had to add a small amount once, but my diesel astra used to drink it & it was a brand new car(\__/)

Mine used to use a bit when I first got it. It hasn't used anything since I've been servicing it tho. The first time i changed the oil the engine sounded noticebly different - maybe it had the wrong oil it before...

Not really suited to an engine with approx 120,000 km's on the clock!
i guess it's back to 10w/40 semi synthetic and change at the proper intervals!

Missing oil
I recently changed the oil in my Surf.
It had been showing just below the full mark.
Drained the oil, changed the filter and refilled.
Put over 7Ltr in but I got only about 5Ltr out.
Where has the missing 2Ltr gone?
I let the filter drain for a while before I took it off so it was quite empty.Comment
