Is it ok to paint a rusty turbo?

Hi All,

I noticed that my turbo which is about 5 years old is very rusty on the underside.

Can these be painted with high temp paint or hammerite etc.

I'm just thinking maybe it will last a bit longer if looked after!

shouldn't be a problem as long as you use high temp exhaust paint. I dont know the temp they would get up to but its going to be warm ~300deg C maybe. i was taking some temp readings off a turbo set last night at work, were up to 230deg C after an hour but i've seen the same turb's glowing red hot after 48hour runs....
