I say "95" but it's subjective isn't it?
It's an aftermarket gauge (TIM) so it's probably not exact is it?
I guess unless you had an accurate thermometer stuck in the coolant then it could be anywhere between 80 and 100!
I'm not concerned about the running temp but was curious about how long the lump took to get there!

PS What the hell is a "jiggle valve" for?
When mine hit 95 I backed off, as it was higher than I'd like. It was as I said fully loaded, with a fully loaded trailer on the back. Due to this I have recently replaced the radiator, and installed a tranny cooler as I believed that this increase ment a problem with my system. To check for hot spots, or air locks on rebuilding the system I used measuring equipment from work, the equipment at work gave the same readings as my onboard.
95 degrees would have me checking my system.Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

Re
95 does seem a little high for me as well.
The only thing is, the sender for the aftermarket TIM gauge got damaged so I had to do a repair using that putty stuff that sets like iron.
The dial is hard to read as well, there are no "fine" increments.
My Surf gauge sits exactly in the middle, always, never goes higher (sometimes I suspect it might be stuck!).
Chances are my is not at 95 but probably lower.
Done a recent coolant flush and change as well so I am suspicious about airlocks as well.
Last time I did it it took me ages to burp, this time I didn't need to do anything, got me scratching my head!
Anyhow, I don't think I am gonna worry, my Surf runs as sweet as a nut, always has!
She has had the head done so no worries there.
Thanks for the answer, I trust I don't sound critical or abrasive?
Cheers mate,
Gary

I've come to the conclusion that the stock gauge has three positions off, fine, overheat.
If you're getting to normal running temp in about 2 mins then I'd agree with Vince, your stats doing it's job. Mine takes about 5 to 10 ish.Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

Wow, loads of angst and anger here. Just do the (very) cheap mod that is posted here, and all will be okay (but you will always be a bit scared of what shows on your guage) :
