  • recovery points

Hi, when I got the surf I noticed there are no decent recovery points on mine, just 2 seized bolts where the a bar I think must of been.

    Left side

    right side

    (looking from front)

and the ARB recovery point ive bought.

now the bolts go into the chassis with nyloc nuts, however no way to get a spanner onto the nuts? there were captive nuts in there originaly but PO has managed to sheer them.

    have I missed something?

I know on the back there is a tie down point which looks like it would be strong enough for a light tug (all i should need on the road tyres where i plan on going) at the cost of a bent bumper.

So whats my options for connecting this hook at the front? the obvious one to me is to get a garage to weld it to the chassis?

i have noticed the link about surfenstein's bits he can do and do like the idea of tubular bumpers, but not quite yet!

    Many Thanks
    Andrew

I just drilled the holes right through and put in longer bolts with nuts on

far better than welding the point to the chassis

cheers but it aint gunna matter so much now, anything attached to that bit of chassis probably aint gunna last long.

just noticed you can actually see the flake of paint garage picked out to find the filler (right side photo).
