  • Vacuum pipe from aircon rad

Just putting the truck back together after trying to sort out a leaky diesel pump. When I dropped off the aircon rad, the pipe from the fans pulled out from somewhere up in the engine bay.

Can anyone enlighten me as to where it goes?

    Ta,

    Steve.

I think you're mistaken. Mine was connected to a switch, but I can't recall where, it lets the AC know the fans are actually working.

Someone with AC still fitted will be along soon to enlighten us.

        Hi mate,

If it has a sort of bell on the other end, it goes
up near expansion bottle, just hangs over the
other bits in that area. (it's a bit like a snorkle).
        Hope this helps.

        Gman.
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

            Hi mate,

The air con fans are very low slung, and, when
wading they can be under water, electric motors
and water don't mix, so they are a sealed motor, and
these pipes act like a snorkel and help them to breath,
without them filling up with water.

            Gman.

OK, could have sworn mine were connected to a switch though. Been a while since I took the air con out though, I may be thinking of something else.

Could have been but that's not right. It is only a breather for the fan motors.

The rest of the engine bay of the truck was a mess right enough, still fixing odds and ends 2 years after buying it!
