  • Handbrake Problems

I Have problems with my handbrake

    Had new shoes fitted.

On returning home, smoke was coming out of one of the drums.

Returned the car to the fitter who said that he can't adjust the handbreak cable enough to compensate for the new shoe.

Been to Millers who don't list a cable for a KZN130.

    has anybody had similar problems?
    or the part number?

    thanks

The guy is talking utter Bo//ocks,he does not have to adjust the cable to back the shoes off, as marky said it's all done on the toothed wheel inside the drum.

Sounds like a person I wouldn't let near a set of brakes, if they are rubbing that hard, he must have had hell of a job getting the drums back on. Otherwise he's over tighened the ratchet after putting the drum on. Either is shoddy work.

Your cable will only streach, never get shorter!!!!!!!

          Problem Solved

          Many thanks

          Took Andy's advise

Remembered that I have a mate who works for Kwick Fit.

He had a look and confirmed that the first guy must have been asleep.

The cable has been slackened off and put back in the right place. The adjustments have been done in the drum including putting the springs in the correct places.

All seems fine now, just need a suitable punishment for the guilty fitter!
