  • track rods, steering idler arm bushes - whats what?

I'm new to the mechanical side of things - my '96 4runner (bought yesterday)has wobble in the steering wheel - from the wheels.
I am aware that the front shocks are weak, and track rods are 'lifting' - noted as advisory on its MOT last week.
    It also pulls to left.
I am going to get front wheels balanced- to see if that cures wobble.

had a look at things this evening, jacked up each front wheel.
When gripping side of wheel, several of the steering componet bars showed movement and clunk at connection points.
Problem is, I don't know which part is which e.g. track rods, idler arms - can anyone point me to a diagram etc, so i know which parts to order.

When gripping top and base of wheel, there was movement - this seemed to be the bearings as as movement came from axle/hub area.
People have mentioned loose bearings - can these be tightened? - if so - how?, or do bearings need replacing?

I guess weak shocks could also contribute to pull to left,

    otherwise its a great vehicle!

        Many thanks! - great diagrams

the diagrams have sorted things out - I just need to figure out which bits/bearing really need replacing - at least I can now work out what they are called!

I scanned and posted them awhile back, they are from a Toyota service manual I have.
