  • Upper ball joints

Did you ever wish you hadnt started something. Started putting my balljoint spacers in today, simple enough i thought. No, i separated the ball joint form the upper arm and couldnt get the bolts out of it. They are the original ball joints and the bolts had fused to the metal. So i need two new balljoints.
Question is, has anyone bought upper balljoints from Milners or Roughtrax or anyone else and are they any good? I'm off the road now until i get the new ones.
    Cheers

              It spaces the ball joint.

                hehehe!!... oh yeah!

now i'm thinking this has something to do with CV angles??
but what i'm thinking would not be a benefit so that can't be right!

They give you lift, like cranking the torsion bars, but keep the stress the T/bar less than as the top wishbone dosn't move. but your right, they don't benefit CV angles.

top tip for removing ball joints, hold heavy hammer against bottom of ball joint, use equally heavy hammer to hit top (leave nut partly screwed on to protect thread if needed) apparently this 'flexes' the ball joint without putting strain on the suspension components, this method has never failed to work for me.

True. They give you 1.5" of lift and are not good to your cv joints, but thats why i have manual hubs!

They mainly give you more travel in the front suspension. The side effects are more lift for the same torsion bar position and extra angle on the cv (because of the extra travel) - gotta be time to think about the diff drop as well

delboy, thought you had already done this job...You got a diff drop kit to go with the spacers...? to bring the angle back to spec on the cv's? Roger Browns 3rd gen kit will fit 2nd gen if you lower the mounts on the front anti-roll bar...
