  • Rear diff oil leak on inside of wheel?

    Hi all.

Ive got some patches of gearbox oil on the drive and a quick inspection revealed quite a lot of splatter on the inside of the read driver side wheel. Looks like its coming from the rear axle.

Is this a simple leaking seal that needs replacing? I am aassuming there is a seal around the driveshaft running inside the rear axle.

If so, has anyone got a link to a site selling the seals? (roughtrax?)

    Many thanks in advance

    Jon

ive just read a few previous posts and guess ive picked up one of the surfs common faults, not that they have many.

in the tech manual that ive got it refers to a special tool for pulling out the inner seal?

if i attempt this myself, am i likely to have a day full of foul language and a half fixed surf?

I personally would'nt atempt it but hey im no mechanic, the seal is cheap as chips but to do it could be a ball ache.

When mine went i took it to the garage & got charged £40 including the seal.
If its not broke don't fix it.
