Hey. I have a second gen 1989 surf. I used to have a 1gen with manual hubs so unfamiliar with auto hubs.
It has a with a button on it. I can get into low gearing fine but when the button is pressed it does not go into 4x4. Apparently it worked fine for the last owner. And i have been told the light does not work. When the button is pressed I can hear a noise, so its doing something. And when driving the thing that gives the front wheels power spins in 4x4 and not in 2x4 so somethings right. Just wont engage 4x4.
Anyone have any insight?
Oh the button was pressed when the car was going reasonably fast too. I figured that may have ruined it?
