have got hilux surf 3.0 diesel auto xxrs ltd 1995 import runs fine normally
but when towing a/t gearbox oil light comes on and temp gauge sometimes goes into red HELP

Check your gearbox ATF fluid level and also the colour. It should be up to the marks on the dipstick and bright red. If it's low and / or brownish red get it topped up / changed ASAP.

do ensure you check with the engine running and warm.

Drive for a few miles, pull over. with the brake on put it into each individual gear for a few seconds then into park, then check fluid level.


also your rad may be blocked. The ATF uses the bottom of the rad to cool. If so do a search for 'cleaning rad idiots guide'

thanks for the advice but just one more question on top of dip stick it says
use dot 2 his there a better option can't find dvd's with manual on
this is my firsttime using this type of web site it's brill cheers guy's

thanks guys changed agf today it was really brown. also done rad flush
and replaced coolant will let you know how we get on cheers
