Somebody help before this truck drives me crazy !!
Had my Surf about 2 months now and i have to say, no complaints here ! UNTIL NOW !!! Over the last 2 or 3 days it's started to squeek. Now to my untrained mechanical ear it sounds like it is comming from the hubs
but i'm not sure. If i accelerate the squeaking stops but as soon as i take the power off it's back with a vengeance.
someone tell me it's something simple,Pleaseeee!!!!

    Thanks

    Colin.

Does it go away if you leave your foot on the brakes?

      Nope it's still there!!
Had the front wheels off and the brakes look fairly new.
      any more ideas?

Could it be a belt slipping on the engine?

That was my first thought, but it sounds more like something mechanical is too tight (possibly needs greasing?)

Got under the truck again today and noticed a little drip starting to form on the bash plate, think this may be my squeaky problem!

                check your AT fluid level

do you have the air con switched on?
my air con pump squeeks if that helps??

Mines dripped there for months - blowed if we can find any leak tho and the fluid level is fine... oh and I dont have a squeek.

Does it change if you run in 4WD?

No i thought of that one too. i had a look under the truck to see if the prop shaft had any grease nipples on it and then i found the drip and thought that must be the problem.

Personally, I don't think the drip is your problem, I'd do a little reseach, drive along with foot on the brakes slightly, then handbrake on slightly, then in all 4wd options, unload/coasting, etc.... and see when the noise occurs, and when its quiet and what combination of driving causes it.

Then you might be able to pin point the action that is making the noise.

I had a bit of a squeek becuse I overtightend my power steering belt when I replaced all the belts. That seemed more pronounced on decelleration. I've slackened it a bit and it's gone now. I might be way off but see if you can get a half turn on all your belts with your fingers.
                            It's only a hobby!
