gear changing

Hi there i have a prob with the gear change it changes late like the od is on. I know there is loads of posts on it on this site and i have read them it more than likley the ecu does anyone have one or is there anything else it could be. Been chatting to supersurf and he said about a black box on the back of the speedo took that off no diffence so have put back on and i have changed the atf.

Have you tried resetting the ECU. Disconnect the battery neg (both if you have twin batteries) and leave disconnected for about 20 mins. Then reconnect and ECU should have reset itself to standard specs, then see if that cures the problem.

hi there tallyman yes i have tried that aswell did it for about 10 min didnt cure the problem

Do you mean that the changes are the same irrespective of whether O/D is on or off?

if it takes time to change gear and not go into o/drive then i would say that the ecu is the cause.I swapped mine with a guy who had a similar problem as you and it came down to the ecu.I will have another breaker in 2-3 weeks so i'll have a ecu for the 3.0l

yes its like od is on all the time and it will not go into top gear (direct drive) at 54 mph i was playing in the snow low range high range using all the gears and the next day i had this prob thought i might of cooked the atf so changed it but still the same.

you could have 2 choices here,The ecu will be £100 plus delivery.
If you can wait the 3 weeks max for me to get to Southampton to collect the truck then i can deliver on the way home so it will be £100
Or i might be able to get ecu taken off and sent to you so it will be £115 delivered next day hopefully

ok stormforce thanks i can collect it form you i am in cornwall a lot for work the only thing is i am not sure it is that hopfully by then i will know..
Is there any way of testing it.

if you know someone with a 3.0l then fit your ecu into their truck and see if it does the same thing.
I will check this ecu when i get the truck home to make sure it works but as its Pops old truck it should be ok tho as its only the head thats gone

If your down camborne way anytime or in Truro weekdays then you can alway swap the ecu with mine to see if it makes a difference
