  • O/D light flashing & intermittent slow pull away

    Hi

New forum user with a 3.0l SSR.G 'M' reg. No problems in passed 3 years but now have O/D light flashing intermittently. When it flashes I loose power on pull away, as though it is not selecting 1st gear. Drop it into L and it pulls away fine. Reverse is also fine so assuming gear box is fine but have some sort of intermittent selector problem. Checked ATF with engine running and warm. Levels OK but brownish colour. Is old and dirty fluid likey to cause this?

When O/D light goes out the vehicle drives fine but problem is occuring more frequently now. Is there a self diagnostic test that can be done for transmission problems or am I looking at a gearbox specialist?

    Thanks for any help

Had the same problem, O/D light flashing and speedo not working. When the speedo works, O/D light is off. Drove it like this till I sold it, but mine wasn't losing power at all. Probably an electric fault but you never know.

Hello mate and welcome, do a search for fault codes then use the numer of flashes the od light gives to determine your fault. It would not hurt to change the trans fluid, its a real easy job, just undo the drain on the bottom of the box drain whats there, then refill, you will need about two and a half ltrs of trans fluid. this is just the box, if you want to drain all of it out its a bit more complex, but if you do a search you will find it. Hope this helps.
