  • Key Cutting

    Good afternoon,
I am having trouble getting a key cut for my 92 surf just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Apart from that I would just like to say what a pleasure my truck has been I thought it would be nice to hear about some trouble free motoring for once.

Took mine into local toyota dealer and they cut one in a week for £10.

Couldn't get it done anywhere else as they didn't have the correct key.

Pop down and see what they say.

    Oh and mine is a 92 K 2.4 TD

Had similar trouble with my 3rd gen, Toyota dealer wanted about €30 for a key. Most places like B&Q etc couldn't match the key but a little place on a back street in Dublin was able to cut one for €6......result!!

Got mine cut at a local shoe repair/key cutting place for 6 pounds. They had to polish it a fair bit as my original key was faily well worn.

Just took mine to Timpsons in the high street and they cut me two - no problems

the JDM keys are longer than normal UK keys, i've had loads of imports and have always found this to be true. Normally they will open the door, but not operate the ignition.

Some key cutters stock them, some dont... if you have problems sourcing one, Toyota will sell the correct key blanks for about £4 each

Just had a second key cut in Peel Green near my works (£3). It is a little longer than the original but works the doors and ignition (got to remember to leave the key a little way out to engage the barrel properly)
