Hello,
I’ve owned a 1993 SSRX 3.0 Turbo diesel since 2003 & had no problems. Recently whilst driving home to Southern Spain the air-con packed up just south of Granada in 40c heat! Once here we had it re-gassed. After driving for about 30 minutes a few days later it stopped again. The engineer came back, checked his gauges and had the air-con running whilst the car was stationery for 45 minutes – perfect. Once we drove up our track after about ½ km it stopped again. The engineer checked under the bonnet & noticed that the magnetic clutch on the front of the compressor had disengaged. Trying to get ourselves understood at Toyota in Spain is a no-go so we contacted our helpful engineers at Toyota in Crawley. Without seeing the vehicle it’s difficult but they’ve hazarded a guess it’s either the relay part no. 9098702009 or 9098703003. The problem’s intermittant, if the air-con’s turned off for about 5/10 minutes it will then come back on & function for about ½ hr, then disengage.
Before we commit to arranging an expensive diagnostic programme, can anyone give any advise?
Cheers, Vic
