Wotcha all - new to this fantastic site.. it's just what I needed.. as I found myself a 1991 SSRx 2.4 ln130 from Japan with 90k on the clock... and it's been excellent.. wanted one for years.. immaculate interior.. clean as a whistle underneath, not a speck of rust. Got stung on the 50% duty though..ouch. A year later all is well......

Until now- I was flying through a large expanse of foot deep water [rains a lot here] which started the bleeping and flashing dash.. so I see on the forum it's an alternator AND belts issue.. so now I'm wondering.. not charging, water pump failing to push at 1800rpm..

Did I blow some electronics in the alternator in deep water?? After all.. it's dried out and WAS fine.. Or is the combination of loose belts and bad contacts and damp hurricane weather to blame... nevertheless got hold of a couple of you [stormforce + supersurf] and have located a spare alternator.. Is it easier to rebuild them than replace? Got a starter motor fix-it man on the island, but never used him.. Batts are a year old, but been so low so many times that they'll probably need changing soon too. Do the lot I hear you say! right right.

Got an interesting rear brake issue too- locking up when cold [offside rear brake] just the one wheel! I changed the wheel cylinder [seems that Hiace ones fit] and it's just the same.. but shoes and drums are fine.. puzzled I am.

Thanks to you lads too. That timing belt light threw me! OK ok. So, got the mum to come over last visit with belt and pulleys, not fitted yet though, done 109,000k on that belt.. not so worried.

Well, don't know if there's a limit on words but I must have reached it! When all repairs done it's off to the swamps and beaches and cave driving!

To the creators of this site - CHEERS! it's the business!
