no power on hills or in genral

hi i just bought a hilux surf 2.4 td on a k plate and its mega slow on hills iv noticed that the turbo light dose not come on when running but dose come on when you switch the egnition on. wot exactly dose make the light come on.

mmm, could be a blown turbo, is it noisy at all?

or being fuel starved, might benefit from a fuel filter change

look up egr mod on the search matey,its prob faulty,just follow the write up,get your cable ties out!

iv had a look at the turbo and its in good nick and boost up nice. how does the egr mod work the page wont work for me lol.

gday mate, check that the air line running from your intake to the boost sensor is connected. if its come off then as far as the engine is concernd there is no boost and therefor no need to suply more fuel, giving a somewhat sluggish performance

I agree, when the 2.4's are under a lot of strain, a small hose blows off the inlet manifold. Quite simply push it back on and you should find the turbo works again- i towed a car trailor from Kent to Gatwick not knowing this- very slow!!! (actually it was TonyN who told me!)
