  • Autobox problem

    Hi guys,

I have searched the site but not found an answer to my problem.

When I approach a junction, the tranny seems to 'think', wait, then remember its in D, and jump forward like a scalded cat (with a bit of a bang from the 'box).

I suspect the bands are worn (272,000kms). Is there any way to adjust them? Or is it valve body related?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

    All help appreciated

    Cheers

ps- ATF is quite new, cooler fitted, filter cleaned recently

Vickis Polo does that for the first few gear changes from cold. You cant change the fluid on the thing, apparently its good for the life of the car - how the hell they manage that I dont know!

          Hi Mark,

No I didn't, not for looking though.

I have searched the internet and not found a single reference to band adjustment.

And to think we used to make thousands of bands everyday at BorgWarner! I should have paid more attention.

Can you post a pic and show me where that locking nut is???????

I dont think so, as you can feel definite gearshifts.
