Silicon hose

I'm just about to order silicon hoses for my intercooler mod,any one know how pliable these hoses are? Cos I'm thinking of pushing a 63mm diameter hose over a 66mm flange!!

Iv'e never used silicon hose before and trying to fab the hose run up without the parts to hand is a feckin nightmare!

I'm gonna try and use a combination of Samco and SFS hoses to get the right configuration.

Is It mission Impossible or Thunderbirds are go!

You won't do it!!

Silicone hoses aren't stretchy like rubber, thats why they're fitted to high performance engines.

You can get silicone hoses with different diameter ends.

I had an idea It would be hard, glad I asked. Just finding It difficult to get the right diameter to match the intercooler flanges. 66mm not including the bead to stop the hose popping off! With the bead 68mm.

Would it be better to have say a few mm bigger and squeeze the hose to the flange?

Sorry Vince, gotta disagree!

I used a 50mm to 63mm elbow for my set up. The 63mm goes over the inlet with some force. The undercut then become a neat clamping recess for the jubilee clip.

You can see the inlet is machined - the hose will go over this.

I don't think Samco hoses will be that flexible though, I've seen how they are made.

Think i'll buy a coupling hose for about a fiver(ish) before I go mad and order the whole run!
