  • Steering Relay Rod Failure!

Hi there I have been surfing on www.toyotasurf.asn.au and I came accross a recent article in their forum under general machanical about steering rod problems. Apparently the orriginal steering rod on the hilux/surf/4runner was faulty and if it fails can cause a lack of steering. In fact they say that in 2004there was a toyota recal of the product. The guy who's writing the article actually went off the road when his steering rod failed!
Obviously many will have been recalled but its highly likely that import surfs may have slipped the net. I have not checked mine yet but I intend to check it in a minute. Has anyone else had or heard of this problem. Seams like the Ozys are taking it seriously and switching there steering rods... should we do the same? Cheers Jim

            Hi Jim

I think the most definitive thread is this one http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...teering+recall
