  • Wheel Studs Snapped Again

When i got home last night i heard a strange clunk from the front end.
So today i thought i'd check it out, So i removed my front N/S Wheel & found 4 of the 6 studs had snapped. These studs seam to be made of mild steel which i bought from ROUGHTRAX luckily i had a spare that i got from MILNERS some time ago on Comparrison the Milners one looks far better quality.
I will speak to Barry on monday for his comments.

Marky, you'll have to start slowing down for hairpin bends,
and stop doing handbrake turns in Aldi's carpark on friday nights.

Are they made of ALLOY instead of steel as they are poor quality.
I only get the SURF up on 2 wheels in ASDA

        Marky,

Well done for catching it before loosing a wheel this time.

Now tell us, why is it you seem determined to drive with 3 wheels ?

Or have you left the truck parked by some LRs ? it sure seems like the truck wants to keep imitating a LR.

            Are you using wheel spacers?

Were those studs only fitted after you removed the spacers, or were they used with the spacers too?

Original studs were poor quality just like the ones that have just snapped.
                  Wheels spacers studs are intact.

Was that a yes or a no then?

Only way to find out for definite is run it with the new ones and see if they cause you any problems. I'd definitely do a Dave and ring R'trax though regarding their studs.

JOBS DONE! Thanks to Chris OHSUPREMEBEING he had a rear driveshaft with the studs in place, A good tap with the hammer & things started to get back to normal. I'm leaving the spacers off for now. I will give Barry @ Roughtrax a ring on monday regarding the soft steel studs.

Are you sure you not overtightening them, 90, maybe 100ft/lb absolute max torque, with isn't much pressure on a long bar.

I only tightened the spacers up with the SURF bar so as not to overtighten.
