bugger, that's just reminded me i meant to swap them over before my breaker went
Sorry...............
Ok, I can't see where the play is the other side, there are too many balljoints in the equation. It looks to me as if I'll need to changee the idler first as the sloppiness there may (Purely my own opinion) be causing the play both sides.
Ok thanks Richard. I really need to find out whats wrong then I guess. I just took it to Kwik-fit to get the wheels balanced and thats when they told me the balljoints had gone.
Mind you, there's a lot of grease that has weeped out from the idler, I've only just spotted it has a grease nipple...........
it's more comon for the idler to go than the pitman arm, or at least you read it more on here anyway, but i just noticed your idler has been replaced with an aftermarket one at some point, the originals don't have grease nipples on i don't think.
To be honest Q F aint the most trustworthy of companies to have work done by,they have been known in the past for making work.I would clean all the grease off and have a good look at the rubbers etc before buying anything. All the ball joints you can buy from roughtrax anyway and will probably cost a hell of a lot less then Q F aswell.
Also check the c.v boots for holes as these will throw grease everywhere
I'll get the replacement bushes anyway as they're so cheap but there is a huge amount of play in the steering which seems to be down to the idler.
With the wheels off the ground you can rock them to and fro by at least an inch each way.
