    Hi ALL Just me (keir&nat)

I recently posted a thread regarding my brakes! I am having a problem getting hold of them (pads)! Will hilux pickup pads be okay? the same year and engine size?

I have a hilux surf 2.4 1992 If anyone knows where i can actually def get some pads let me know asap!
Will halfords have them? I've asked but they really don't know what I'm after....I mean they have an idea but there not entirely sure they will fit! Mine are getting worse and I need to get them changed ASAP. Is it just a case of taking out the old ones and replacing with new? Could anyone give me step by step instructions?

Thank you all for being here! Thank you

    Keep it cool

    Keir

Read this it will explain better than I could, just remove the pads and replace with new,you should not need to remove the caliper as in the instructions.

Andy, Should I bleed the brakes??? I have never done this! Is it as easy as This guy makes out? Also can you tell me what the function of the button on the automatic gear stick does? It brings up a kinda two wheels and a line on the dash window?!!

You shouldn't need to bleed them, but make sure that when you push the pistons back that you dont overflow the reservoir.

The button on the auto stick is the 4wd button, only engage this on slippery surface.

There are a few other buttons that I have no clue as to what they are for! The one on the gear panel at the very top (cant remember what it says) and also what the best gear (automatic gear) to use for town driving and whats best for motorway driving? I feel so dumb but Ive only ever dreamed of this car! Never thought i'd ever have one.....Now I'm just trying to get to know it! As repairs so far have cost a bluddy fortune!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME

The red one on the gear panel is to be able to move the gear shifter when the keys are out of the ignition.

Keep it in D for drive and the overdrive off in town, and use overdrive when doing more that 40/50 mph on open road.

The ECT button is like a sports mode, holds the gears for higher revs.

It's the small button on the side of the gear selector, near where your thumb would be.

Ahhhh I thought so! You must think I'm nuts hey!
Do you think its worth getting a hand book?
Also, Andy, The drivers side door won't open from the inside!!! Another problem! Do you know how tricky it is getting the door panel off? or how to? so I can get to the Lock and behind the handle etc!? Ive had a look and I'm really not to sure!

The O/D button on the main gear stick (on the side) press in to switch off O/D (O/D Off will show up in the display), press in again to switch back on.

                          Cheers
