got a 2-4 turbo desiel
here,s my problem starting the engine .. and the engine turns over and batterys drains quickly have taken the glow plugs out tested them
put them back started up fine
after charging the batterys went for a long run in the surf. came back parked the thing ,:opened the bonnet there was acid steam comming from the nearside battery ... battery was really hot removed the cell caps the water in the plates were bubbling away like boiling water .removed the pos.neg terminals
do you think i need a new battery

i would get 2 new batteries as 1 will pull the other down with it

If the alternaor is overcharging it will cook the batteries. Have the output voltage checked before you try new batteries.
