  • 2" lift / tyres

Finally got my lift done, in the end went with TJM shocks and springs all round, as I had lots of problems getting the OME kit sent to me out here in Macedonia. I have to say, very very impressed with the results. I seem to have gained more than 2.5" at the back, perhaps the previous standard springs were in worse shape than I thought so I probably wasn't even at standard height. Ride is much better and more controlled, and even the handling seems sharper even with the extra height

Now all that needs to be done is to fit some more appropriate tyres, what maximum height and width can I fit on with a 2" lift? Want to get rid of the silly road tyres I have on at the moment and put some on some BFG ATs ideally, can I go to 275/75/R16 without problems? Would love to hear from those that have fitted bigger tyres with lifts and what experiences they've had...

I've got the TJM suspension. 33's went on it but 10.5 NOT 12.5 wide. With the torsion bars wound up a bit (about 1/2-1" IIRC) at lock there was a good 1/2" clearance. And the 1/2" was to trimable bits, the inside mud flaps.

The 275/75R16 are a little bit wider but not quite as tall so may be ok?? I'd say try and keep to 275 wide or under.

You should be ok with 275s. I got 285/75/16 bfgs with 60mm tjm suspension and 2" body lift and mine just about clear the bumper/extensions.
If you are coming back to Brum at some point soon you can try mine on your truck and even see if you can go for 285s.

Sounds good, but have either of you had to do any re-gearing? I want to avoid that at all costs.... any loss of performance etc?

Nope, runs great without any difference in power, mpg etc.
