    Hi i'm new here and couldent see an introduction thread sorry if this is in the wrong section.

    I am interested in buying a hilux surf but since they are imports i am a bit not shure is there anything i should be looking out for and how readliy available are the parts to get hold of.

    Get a 3.0 if you can afford it.
    2nd gen surfs are pretty common as are the 3rd gen, but 3rd gen hold more money (newer, 96 onwards)

    main things are make sure everything works as it should, parts can be bought pretty cheap and huge amounts of help are available here.

      hello and welcome to the forum,

      never mind the yeti & the squirrel, seen as your north of the border you best watch out for yoshie.

      (he's our subscriptions hound )





      You'll have no hassle getting parts, most if not all are readily available from a few aftermarket suppliers, a lot are still available from toyota main stealers too.

      Buying an import you should expect it to be in far better condition corrosion wise and far lower mileage than a UK vehicle of the same age. There's a good buyers guide floating about somewhere and i'm sure someone will be along to post the link in no time.
