Grinding, rubbing noise

Only at very low speed, or I can only hear it at low speed anyway.
Its a kind of scraping noise and vibration, its not the brakes, any ideas on where I should look?

the stone guard on the transfere box, just back a bit from drivers seat underneath rattled on mine and sounded like a gear box problem.

usually anything loose like exahst , stone guards and brackets are moor evident on initial start up on a cold engin.

Thanks for that, it does have a slight rattle as well and it turns out that is what it is


The grinding feels like a drive component somewhere, the vibration and noise goes through the whole chassis.

The trouble is I'm so short on time, I'm hoping to get home early today and have a really good look otherwise its probably not a good idea to take it off-road at the weekend if something does need attention

i had a grating noise and vibration, it turned out to be the dual mass flywheel. can you change the sound by gently pushing the clutch?

i have a grinding that started today when I turn right - could it be failed wheel bearing? im not feeling good so I cant take a look tonight so i hope itll be ok again tomorrow

Yup its auto

TonyN suggested it may just be down to tyre noise, I still haven't had chance to have a good look and, in reality, won't get the chance 'till after the weekend.

Maybe one of the guru's on here amy be able to give an opinion on Saturday?
Otherwise I'll check those things out next week as I won't be using the truck any more for commuting (hopefully.)

you reckon I can tell the difference before I pull it all apart? its getting more frequent now and sometimes occurs under braking. I have checked the outer front bearing and all seems good but I guess the rear could still be knackered?

can anyone describe the noise from a CV or bronze bush that needs doing?

bronze bushes rattle, grab a front axle neare the hub and try and wobble it up and down for any rattling.

jack the front end up and spin the wheels and look and listen for your noise,
apply the foot brake and try again, i recon it could be a worn out pad sticking now and then

thanks - I think the bronze bushes need doing anyway but no dosh for them at the mo. pads are new and Ive checked em so its not that. ill order a bearing kit for now and see how it goes.

ok talking to myself again but after reading tonnes more tonight on the forum im going to buy new bronze bushes for drivers side (and the seal if I can find it) and see what happens.
just yesterday the truck has got a shake on when accelrating which must be UJs again! maybe grease will help first.

grease didnt help luckily I had a new UJ so I put it on today, first time Ive done one - not too bad.

got the new bronze bushes but I need to wait a week until I can fit them...

I Had The Same Problem Thought It Was Sticking Brakes,stone In The Brake System Turns Out To Be A Broken Joint On The Front Of The Propshaft Causing The Car To Vibrate.i Think You Can Replace The One Nearest The Gearbox But If It,'s On The Propshaft Your "shafted" You Have To Buy A Replacement Shaft I Got One For £56 Recon Through Breakeryard.com Of Some Guys In Birmingham Hope This Helps.
