  • Gone Off My New Pod

    Hi All,

I don't seem like it anymore!

After months of wishing for it, preparation, spraying etc. I can say that I think I made a mistake!

I don't know why, maybe I reckon it ruins the Surfs good lines?

    Anyhow, what do you think?

    Should I remove it?

    Later!

    Gary

You've done a great job on it...anyhow i know how you feel I thought about one...hours on photoshop trying to see what it would look like on mine.

Whats it like at night... any pics... and does it throw a useful amount of light...

i can understand that, never liked pods on the roof, bars look so much better.

i'd be tempted to have a look and see what it looks like on the bonnet, but i think it's the wrong shape for a bonnet pod too.

        Re

The light at night is great!

They are more of a "flood" and less of a "spot" if you know what I mean?

You could almost use them to drive!

Be excellent for a hunter or fisherman to use!

The lights can be turned on thus:-

        2 outer on!
        2 inner on!
        All on!

        Which is good!

Having said that I am unsure of them, I think they ruin the "masculine" look of the 2nd gen and make it a bit "poofy"?

        Later!

        Gary

I will get some pics later!

FLIP ME, Vultch I just noticed you are up the road a wee bit!

Maybe we can meet up sometime!

            Re

            Hardly any prep!

Couple coats of primer, quick rub with wet & dry and spray!

The lights come off the pod very easily, just pop the lenses off and undo 1 bolt!

Insted of finishing with laquer I just polished with Farecla to match the other paint, I reckoned they would look better than VERY shiny and was right!

            Worked a treat!

            Later!

Dunno mate, I am a bit of a minimalist!

                Less is more!

Light bars are ok but I like the smooth classic lines of the Surf!

I don't like those pods. They look cheap and plasticcy to me. I think you might be able to remedy it by putting a big macho roof rack up there that kind of covers them up a bit so they look more underslung.
