  • no power to rear window

hi all, yesterday the rear window in my 4runner was working perfectly but today it wont work at all !
the rear wiper is at the correct position and the 10a fuse under the steering column marked TAIL is fine.
it wont work from the switch in the cab either, can anyone help ?

The first thing to check is the window lock button.
Is it stuck down, if so check the catches have engauged properly.
After that you could well be in for bug hunt.

i forgot to say i tried the window lock button but it didnt work.
i also forgot to say that i have just changed the glow plugs then after i finished the rear window wouldnt work, but i dont think that has anything to do with it.
is there anymore fuses to check ?

i have been back out and found when i press the switch in the cab up there is a clicking noise coming from the tail gate probably a relay but when i press the button down to open the window there is no clicking noise so im guessing i need a new relay for it to go down, is this correct ?

              Probably.
There is a control unit in the n/s rear quarter panel. If you can get the panels (both carpet and metal) off the inside of the tailgate, you could try wireing directly to the window motor. +- one way window up +- the other window goes down. If it works this way its the control box bust.
I believe that there are ways of fixing it using relays from Maplins which have been discussed in the electrical section. Alternatively ask someone whos breaking theirs for a new one or feeling rich
