  • Ball joint spacers

    Fiiting mine tomorrow.

Obviously I need to take the tension off the torsion bars so when I wind them back up again later I get the same height again without too much tension cos now I have the lift from the spacers.

So, how do I know when there is no tension on the torsion bars so I get the same amount of turns on each side?

I can ionly think of counting the threads, or measure in mm the amount wound out the top. You have a body lift so easier to see

mark the bolt and frame Andy then count the amount of times each bolt is turned. You'll know when the t/bars are slack enough as you will be able to lift the upper wishbone with a crowbar to insert the spacers. This is how i done mine

They're already wound up tight, but probably not by the same amount (long story) so counting turns off is probably not gonna be accurate.

I want to take ALL of the tension off so I can start again from a level playing field as it were.

just undo them completely then and once the spacers are fitted then just tighten them up and drive about to settle them in and measure then repeat if neccessary

What happens when you undo them completely? They fall off? Something smacks you in the face?

Is it something obvious like the adjusting bolt drops out?

as long as the front is lifted off of the ground then they will undo ok, once the top of the thread reaches the nut then that should be enough so you shouldn't need to take the bolts right out.You can take the bolts right out if you wanted but there will be enough slack on the upper wishbone with the bolt top undone to the nut
