Anyone know if the gearbox input shaft from the gearbox off an 18R petrol engine is the same length as a 2LT diesel one?

          My MK1 had a 18R, never saw anything but 2.2's or 2.4 2L Diesels in MK2's.

But it don't help Elvz though So don't worry.

Only got 5 speed manual to measure, but 18r's only used 4 speed, so may be different. (plus its up the lane in the dark and wet, and I'm cleaned up, showered and not going out again!!!

                    18 r engines

have had a couple of left hookers in to convert from left hand drive to righthand drive. had one in with a 22r engine with the short bed on it .not a cut down one. there was a few mk1 face lifts on A plates diamond shaped front grill patern and square headlamps cromed door handles and the wing mirrors were up on 2 inch stalkes and of a square shape. front side lamps were built into headlamp besel slightly curved , long amber side repeter indicaters.
