  • Brake lines

It looks as though I have a bit of corrosion on my brake lines going to rear of truck.
Anyone changed these and have any do's/don'ts before I start.

    MOT is due soon.

The brake pipes normally corrode near the fuel tank . Best replace line from joint to joint but you can buy a line link so you can change a section and join it but you would need a flaring tool to do it. Best way to measure the new line is to run a piece of string along the one to be replaced and that will then tell you how long you need to make the new line. Local motor factor can make up the line for you. You will loose most of brake fluid from system unless there is a flexable pipe before the section of line you are replacing and you can clamp off before changeing .Bleed the complete brake system after changing the line .

Take it to Jimmy Ryan's, he's not dear and it saves you any hassle.

and use Kunifer or copper brake pipe rather than steel, it will outlast the life of the car.

            LOL, cheers guys.

I have done the complete pipe setup on a MK1 Escort (a long time ago!) so I'd be pretty confident giving it a go.

I've only heard good things about Ryan's. Even the local farmers use them! Have they given you trouble?
