  • Answer me this...

One (more) question- and may be an obvious one, but inlighten me!...

Does the surf, when not engaged in 4WD, does it run permamnant RearWD or FrontWD?

    cheers (again)

    Joe.

aaaaah... Thanks alot matey! for some reason, i thought it may have been FWD.

At the moment, I'm driving it with the auto selector in position "D", and the other 4WD selector in the middle ( with 4WD NOT on...)

Is this the most economic way of rididng the Surf?

      Joe.

(sorry about all the questions guys...)

have it in D and the other lever as far forward as it will go for 2wd.if the lever is in N you wont go anywhere and if you have it in l4 or press the button on the gear selector you are liable to get transmission wind up which will be expensive if driven on tarmac

Main lever in 'P' or 'N' otherwise nasty graunching noises will happen.

                      Right, here goes-

                      4WD selector status-
("L4") 4WD selector far forward, toward engine,"4WD" is illistrated on dash lights.

("N") 4WD selector in the middle, "A/TP" is illistrated on dash lights.

("H") 4WD selector as far back as it will go, toward the seat, reads "H" position on 4WD selector...

                      THUS-

                      Main selector lever - "D"
                      +
                      4WD selector lever - "H"
                      +
                      "O/D OFF"
                      =
                      ECONOMY??

                      Joe.

Almost, I think you get better economy with O/D on, and also with Veg in
