Hi guys just thought id share this with you as it may help out
My surf started leaking deisel on monday & after searching through here the pump seals were looking to be the culprit as that was where the leak looked to be coming from.
So today i figured while it was light & i had the afternoon off i'd strip it down to make sure (hoping it was just a leaky hose) before ordering the seal kit.
Off came the air filter & i cleaned up the area with a drop of parafin & dried it all off.
Started the engine & sure enough it was leaking from here
I was just about to strip it all down when i thought to myself "i wonder if its just loose"
Rumaged around & found an 1" 1/4 socket, popped it on & it needed no effort at all to undo Probably could have done it with my fingers.
Tightened it up again & guess what..............
Yep no leak at all
So there you go if you've got a leaky pump before stripping it all down just see if you can tighten that big nut a bit.
It may not be a permanent fix (i guess time will tell) but it gets me back on the road for the time being at least & may even hold out untill its not quite so cold out there & i can do a proper job on it.
