it did that to me last night, then it appeared, now it's gone again, the link looks fine so i dunno why it's not working but it's on my photobucket now. Still can't answer the question though.

cheers Nero - it was for some reason playing around.
I havent driven it to work and I could play around later but ill have to take the half shaft out again. I have fitted new shoes so I think I can take the shaft out without removing them again by disconnecting the handbrake cable (what a pain to connect that was!).

The O-ring is to stop oil leakage between the axle housing flange and the bearing retainer flange so yes it will leak.

just a quick q as i think people are reading it 2 different ways,

did you forget to replace it as in forgot to swap it for a new one, so the old one's still there? or forget to replace it as in forgot to put it back so there's currently not one there at all?

edit: i guess the above post clears that up then

Rear bearing kit should have 5 items. The Bearing, Bearing Retainer. Inner and Outer Seal and the O-ring. They do list all these as separate items. The O-ring is here -

I wonder if they used that pic with permission from the photographer. A bit cheeky pinching it off the Aussie Surf Site.

is a bit cheeky - i bought this kit with no O ring

currently there is no seal in as I forgot to replace it but have only driven it a couple of meters to get it off the pavement since then.

Think you have answered your own question "currently there is no seal"
Sorry mate get it off and do it right no choice

I suggest you guys have a word to someone at Roughtrax and ask them to include the o-ring in the kit. It's a bit silly to replace all the other bits and not the o-ring. The diagram they show has this, but it's not hi-lighted.

I have bought 2 axle sets (4 bearing sets )from roughtrax and none of them had the o ring, I reused the old utilising a bit of silicone as insurance, it aint leaked yet. I do happen to think that they should be included in the bearing kit, but once you got it stripped it's a bit late if you rely on your truck!!
Did I mention I have a BLUE one
