ABS Light

My 3 litre Gen 3 1998 Surf is great.
Today the ABS light came on while I was driving home.
I stopped and switched off the engine and then re-started it and the light went out and I drove 5 or 6 miles home.
When I was parking in my back yard the light came on again and i did the same, switched the engine off then on again and the light went out.
Any ideas as to why ????

Have you checked the brake pads?

Maybe that light comes on to tell you that the bulb is working!

Yes I found that it was OK but perhaps the pads need looking at I will do that this week.
