  • R or L Corolla window motor for surf tailgate?

    Hi Gang,

I know there are loads and loads of posts about the Tailgate motor problem with Surfs, and yes mine has packed up over the weeked.

After spending many hours reading the posts on this forum I am a little confused as to if I need a Corolla Left or Right side electric window motor.

In some of the forum posts people have said the use the Drivers side door motor but then in a different post someone said to make sure it was a Left hand side motor. Then in another different post I saw someone say it was important to get the right side as they fit differently.

And now to add to my confusion My local car breaker has a 1995 Corolla (my surf is a 1995 model) but he asked if I was after the motor from a 2 door or 4 door as the motors are different

So could one of you kind chaps or chappesses put me on the straight and narrow with the definitive answer.

    Thanx in advance

    KennyG

you can use either side . the passenger side will go straight in but you will have to turn the drivers side 180deg's

        Hi Ya,

Is that a hard thing to do? (especially for a novice like me)

have a read thru this and you should be able to manage it yourself.Make sure the catches have been double clicked and make sure you have a stool or someone to hold the weight of the window
